Lumos Part II on Flickr.
Pronunciation: /ˈljuːmɒs/ lew-mos
Description: Creates a narrow beam of light that shines from the wand’s tip, like a torch (US: flashlight).
Seen/mentioned: First seen in Chamber of Secrets and then constantly throughout the series.
Suggested etymology: Latin lumen meaning “light”.
Notes: The counter spell, Nox, extinguishes the light. The caster of this spell can cast other spells while this spell is in effect.
I loved my first Lumos photo so much I decided to do another one. This one is done with my own wand that I made myself. I sanded the wood down, stained it, sculpted the vines and flower at the bottom (which you can’t see in this photo, perhaps in a future photo haha), painted them, and then coated it in sealer to give it a glossy look and a smooth feel. However, you can’t see much of it here, there are a lot of details you can’t see, such as the rose on he bottom of the handle and the handle itself made of wrapped vines. I want to show it off more so look for it in future photos. I’m really proud of my wand so I wanna show you all! haha (:
I’m also working on another wand, it’s shaped and stained but I can’t figure out how to make the design I have in mind work quite yet. So look for that one too!
